The eufy S4 eufyCam stands out as a solar powered wireless security camera with sharp day and night video, strong detail capture, and easy battery access. The solar panel is described as keeping it charged even through Illinois winter, and the camera has held up for months without issues after replacing an S340 that dropped Wi Fi. The main questions are around its true rotation range, mounting compatibility with older brackets, and whether wireless security or cloud dependence matters for your setup. It looks like a capable outdoor camera with practical power and image quality.
homeowners who want a driveway or outdoor spot to be covered without constantly charging the battery because the solar panel kept it charged even through winter months (Illinois) and the battery is replaceable and easy to access.
people setting up multiple outdoor cameras who care about day/night detail because users with two units say it "catches every detail" and the day and night image quality is very good while solar keeps the battery fully charged.
buyers who want a wireless camera for casual monitoring and like the idea of not being tied to a cloud subscription because commenters say eufy cameras are not beholden to cloud.
homeowners looking for a deterrent/response feature for security because one commenter says it gives you a chance to set off a siren and/or call the cops.
people who need true corner mounting coverage and rely on full pan rotation because a commenter questioned whether it's actually 360° and said the prior model only rotated to about 345° and wouldn't rotate around for corner mounting.
buyers who are worried about wireless jamming and want to know about local streaming options because one commenter asked whether it supports RTSP or requires eufy cloud for the feed.
buyers who want the best purchase protection and return terms because a commenter suggested waiting to buy from Costco and noted eufy's 12-month warranty/refund policy.
people who are sensitive to pricing/discount optics because one commenter said they were "on the fence" due to 12% 1-star reviews and also claimed the price was $300 then later increased to $350 to make the sale look better.
The purchase experience may be affected by warranty and return protection differences, since eufy offers a 12-month camera warranty and some buyers prefer Costco.
Yes. The solar panel can keep the battery charged even through winter, including in Illinois. It also has a replaceable battery with easy access if you ever need to swap it out.
Yes. It captures a lot of detail and is described as having very good day and night image quality, while the solar panel keeps the battery fully charged.
That is not confirmed in the comments. The question is whether the S4 bracket hole locations match the S340 so existing brick-wall holes can be reused, but no answer is provided here.
I've been looking at wireless for a while, and although they seem fine for casual monitoring, but if you're going to be seriously bulgraized aren't they going to jam the wireless cams with a broadband transmitter? Anyone know if this will put out and rtsp stream or are you beholden to their cloud instance?
It's so insanely rare for jammers to be used. If someone seriously wants to rob your home they're going to hit the camera with a bat from the side and walk in. A camera won't stop them regardless of wireless or wired.

Thieves don't even care about cameras anymore. Just put on a mask and they keep it moving.
If we get one s4 camera, I'm sure it will provide a better quality video when we want to check on the chickens, but if we get the two s340 cameras, we could either buy one at a time to save up front, or buy two to have batter coverage of both sides of the house.
Does one have a better mic/speaker than the other?

It is not beholden to eufy cloud. RTSP support is still an open question in the comments, so that specific streaming option is not confirmed here.

Yes. It can be used to set off a siren and help give you time to call the cops, making it more of a deterrent/response tool than a physical barrier.

A rather high profile kidnapping case from a few weeks ago, where the perp had on a mask on camera, still has not been solved.
