TDS creep is when you first turn it on after it sitting for a little bit, the water will have absorbed some contents back and the TDS number rises. Ie, i think clean RO water is 0-25 TDS or PPM. So for instance, my local water supply is 1000-1300 (very high, Southern California) and it takes about 30 seconds for the unit to get to 20 TDS. This time will vary based on how dirty your tap water is. If you look up your water supplier, they usually post this data online somewhere.

I have the larger 700gph unit with alkaline ($300). Has been an excellent alternative to our previous 7 stage w/tank RO system. Much less waste, more under sink room and minimal operating noise. Easy install as well especially if your counter hole is already drilled.

Not worth the risk of damaging countertop. I hired a professional plumber for $100. The tools may on their own cost about that. Plumber barely took 2 minutes to finish the job and did it very cleanly. Having insured person do it was good idea too.

Agreed. A quality bit will be $40 anyway, but a cracked granite countertop (or a crooked hole) will be a $4,000 fix. For $100-$150, leave it to a pro who already has and knows what type of bit to use.

I wonder how good this filter actually is.
By the nature of RO, it's inevitable to have waster water, because the whole point it not to let every water go through the filter.
This unit seems like it has the waste water line by looking at the photo - meaning the unit is disposing the waste water.
So it's got to be either not 1:1 pure to drain, or the filter is not true RO

Power is required for this because this is tankless and provides water on demand pumping through the filter.

The traditional RO system without power require maintaining a tank to store water as filtered water slowly fill up the tank from the water pressure that exist from your water supply line. When you are dispensing water, you get the water from the tank.

Depends on where you live more than anything. Some areas the water from the tap is fine by almost anyone's standards and other areas are terrible by everyone's standards.
