Anyone know if the x-prism optics in these are that much better than the birdbath optic from the xreal 1S? I just got the xreal 1S yesterday and they seem alright... not sure if these one pros are worth the extra $150.

And amazon seems to be a bit more risky with refunds now so I'm not sure if I want to order these too and return the one I don't like...

I know for the best 3DoF this is the best there is. But the Viture Beast is catching up, and the display is much better. I'm not sure 50 off is that great of a deal at this price.

Also if XReal does release a proper update soon don't want to be stuck with these.

Is this still worth considering with the Xreal Google Aura on the horizon?

I just received the Viture Beasts a couple days ago after pre-ordering but ended up returning them. Too many quirks that don't make them worth the money in my opinion. They feel like a beta product. One of the biggest was the anchor mode was always tilted and it drove me crazy. Even after updating the firmware that was supposed to fix it. The display quality was so-so. 1080p feels like a downgrade and the field of view isn't that great. It still puts a black box around the large screen. None of my settings would save after powering off the glasses so I had to fumble around the awkward menu controls to set 120hz every time I plugged the glasses in. The glasses themselves were a bit uncomfortable on my nose from the pressure and they would get hot after a while. They also just look a bit goofy. I don't think I'd wear them in public. It was my first pair of XR glasses so they may be a huge improvement from previous Viture models but they still have a long ways to go. I am wondering if these glasses are any better or if I should just wait a few years for more refinement.

Thanks for your feedback on the usage. I've been seeing many mixed experiences from the Beasts, but seemed like things were getting better. It feels annoying. The XReal One Pro at the time of launch seemed really good. But now almost 2 years in do not feel as appealing because of the display quality. And they're still priced the same as launch. Even the cheap Rayneo glasses have better viewing quality than XReal right now. Wish the 1S was a refresh of the Pro instead the base One glasses.

Sounds amazing… but AR glasses always seem to overpromise 😅
Curious if this is actually a big leap, or just another 'cool demo, limited daily use' type of device?

The niche for these right now is mostly as a portable display - think steam deck or just as a bigger screen while traveling - they haven't really reached the threshold that they are good enough on their own or in some way better than just plopping in front of a TV. They are cool and the tech will get there but low resolutions and field of view aren't really as good enough for the mass market to jump in on - IMO of course.
