I hear mixed reviews on how well these work. If this works well that's a lot cheaper than getting a new dock.

I'm always paranoid about the quality of low cost electrical parts... I don't want to fry my expensive devices just to save a few bucks. Anyone know of similar products from reputable brands?

Wait, have none of you guys tried a typical usb-c to multi-port (usb-c to usb-a, hdmi, ethernet, ext power etc...) dongle on your switch? I had one for my laptop while on a ski trip. Kids wanted to connect to the airbnb tv while play against each other). Tried the dangle, and it worked.

That's fair. I think most of the risk comes at the beginning of the Switch lifecycle and with people using third-party chargers. Of course I can't guarantee anything, but I think this should be fine as long as you use a proper power supply.

Use a licensed charger on these.

They need to be firmware updated from time to time, otherwise I've had one since July of last year (not this brand, but similar) and have had no issues.
