This is a compact 2.5 watt diode engraver best suited to wood, leather, fabric, slate, and non transparent plastics, with limited use on anodized aluminum or coated metal. The price looks competitive versus similar listings, and the output is described as very fine on a sample photo. The main limits are clear acrylic, bare metal, and rings, which need a fiber laser for real engraving. Circular items also call for a rotary attachment, and basic eye protection and ventilation are important.

  • Makers engraving wood and non-transparent plastics, because diode lasers are compact and suited to those materials.

  • People marking anodized aluminum or stainless steel, because diode lasers can engrave those coated metals.

  • Shoppers wanting a compact laser for occasional small projects, because the unit is described as cheap and small.

  • Crafters engraving bare metal rings, because a diode laser may only mark the coating and not reach the metal.

  • Owners planning to engrave tumblers or thermoses without a rotary attachment, because cylindrical items need constant lens-to-surface distance.

  • People expecting deep engraving on clear acrylic, because a 2.5W diode can struggle with reflective or transparent material.

I once bought a Rosewill multi-card reader that died after a month and I will never miss an opportunity to tell everyone about it.
That $3 setback really hurt you I see!

Been eyeballing/researching laser engravers for a while now... I don't think I would buy anything lower than a 5w laser. Also, you would definitely want a rotary attachment of some sort to do any circular objects.

Personally I'm not sure I believe the specifications of this. The power of the diode is 2.5w. When they say it's perfect for engraving material like acrylic, you need to watch out for gotchas like - acrylic (black) as normally people want to engrave and cut clear acrylic. Rings are normally made from metals that reflect most of the energy when engraved. I would personally use a Fiber Laser for what you are trying to do.Finally - I wouldn't buy this because:- 2.5 is low power- I still would recommend far better eye protection that is offered here.- Air assist really helps engravers maintain clear markings. There is none here.I just don't want people thinking they are getting something they aren't.
Can u recommend a budget friendly one?

Just came here to say it cant engrave metal, others explained the coated vs clear.
Also it its too weak, simply slow it down.
For wood, recommend outdoor or with vacuum cuz it will smell like fire everywhere and not good for your health (thats for all lasers).
Dont worry about eye protection more than basic tinted glasses, its 2.5w. We wear similar glasses for handheld laser welders that can literally burn you.

PSA. The light these things generate when engraving and scattering off the surface is enough to blind you. permanently. Wear laser blocking glasses that are correct for the wavelength of the laser you are using. The laser glasses OD should be >=6 at the laser wavelength.

Let the engraving begin!
...and from what I can tell the disappointment should begin soon after.
