Finally - I wouldn't buy this because:
- 2.5 is low power
- I still would recommend far better eye protection that is offered here.
- Air assist really helps engravers maintain clear markings. There is none here.
I just don't want people thinking they are getting something they aren't.

This is a compact 2.5 watt diode engraver best suited to wood, leather, fabric, slate, and non transparent plastics, with limited use on anodized aluminum or coated metal. The price looks competitive versus similar listings, and the output is described as very fine on a sample photo. The main limits are clear acrylic, bare metal, and rings, which need a fiber laser for real engraving. Circular items also call for a rotary attachment, and basic eye protection and ventilation are important.
The diode approach can engrave wood and non-transparent plastics for hobby projects.
The diode design can engrave powder-coated metal by burning away the coating layer.
The Newegg price may be comparatively better than similar listings on Amazon for the same model.
The unit can be dangerous without stronger eye protection and additional fume control equipment.
The 2.5W diode power may be too low for clear acrylic and reflective metal rings.
The engraver may only shallowly mark metal rings and may require coating plus a rotary device for consistent results.
The engraving output may look very thin in practice, which can reduce confidence in finished markings.

Also it its too weak, simply slow it down.
For wood, recommend outdoor or with vacuum cuz it will smell like fire everywhere and not good for your health (thats for all lasers).
Dont worry about eye protection more than basic tinted glasses, its 2.5w. We wear similar glasses for handheld laser welders that can literally burn you.
