A table behind the couch—Seems really useful.
Some people might call that a sofa table.

Cool idea, until you forget to close the windows and it rains.
Not everyone puts their sofas against the windows. With open floor plans becoming more and more common, you'll find a lot of folks using couches to separate floor space, a console table like this behind the couch is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing as well. Personally I used a couple Ikea expedit (the kallax before kallax, sturdier and bigger) 4x2 shelves I got on marketplace to be a backstop to my couch, but this is also a neat solution, and cheaper.

I agree that a table behind the couch in a open floor plan looks nice, but I think you would want a wider one than this in that scenario. This seems designed specifically to be wedged between the couch and the wall. It's so narrow that it would probably fall over easily if freestanding in the open behind a couch. Also, where would you plug it in if it was used in the middle of an open floor plan room? Most people do not have in floor outlets.

Our couch isn't anywhere near the window, and even if it was there's covered balcony out there...

SlickDeals is becoming full of people who think "Well, that's not the way it is in my house (or my life, car, computer, etc) therefore that's not the way it is for anyone!"
