The real deals here are the PlayStation Fortnite bundles which are $100 less than other pricing and $200 less than they'll be on the 2nd. Wanted to make the thread so anyone on the fence about purchasing had time to before the price increases next week.

This will kill the industry. No one will be able to afford these prices to game.

McDonald's went up, Kentucky fried chicken when up, gas went up, groceries went up, cars prices went up, yet your still buying.
Consumers will always adjust though. That is why Aldi, Trader Joes, and Walmart are seeing record sales numbers. The former two are expanding operations like crazy. McDonalds and KFC have seen declines domestically as well and are mostly leaning on international expansions. Car prices and sales have flattened. Sales have decreased compared to pre covid record highs too. Some people will buy these over priced consoles but many won't until deeper sales.
Gas is hard to avoid lol not sure why you would compare gas to a game console. I can't really adjust much there.

People would've had one already if they wanted one. They're not going to sell. I say this as someone who's owned every generation of them.
This is enough to deter people on the fence though like myself. I was and am still holding out for $400. I'm in no rush

The sooner this AI/data center bs is over with the better
Yep everyone is desperate to squeeze money out of it now and they are too far deep to pull back. OpenAI has like over 1 trillion dollars worth of future commitments that they may not be able to complete and they are burning mountains of cash each year. Their chatgpt AI performs about as well as any bog standard AI too. Honestly, I can't complain about that dumpster fire of a company crashing and burning.

If Google's new RAM lite AI ends up performing well enough, that might be enough to destroy a few of these companies and send RAM prices back down. I've never rooted for Google so hard before.

Same experience with GameStop Fortnite bundles not processing. I was approved for their credit card and free pro membership. Sadly, it has a $400 limit before you receive the physical card. Tried multiple other cards but no dice. Resorted to buying the Pro from Target where I had a bunch of discounted gift card credit. Held out this long for PS5 price drops but want to play GTA6 in all its glory on my 4k 120hz oled big screen and now I can.
Lol, that game won't run anywhere near 120 fps on a console.

I don't think so. PS6 is already set in stone, and delaying it's release date won't change anything. Someone already did a video explaining they would lose more money for a delay that would do nothing. R&D costs, Contracts, and Logistics. The chip allocation from TSMC, if they decide to delay, that would move them to the back of the line in terms of manufacturing.
.
The tech for it is already set in stone, so if you delay until 2029, then you are releasing tech meant for 2027. Sony has no choice but to move forward despite what the market is willing to stomach in terms of readiness. It's all wishful thinking and fantasy for gamers to project a delay. Even if I agree that this generation hasn't bear enough significant fruit in terms of games worthy of a gen.
It's not though. And upvoting your own comment doesn't make it true.

Truth is the hardware has far surpassed gaming features/coding. All they are doing is fatting up the code with slight gains in fun gameplay and slightly better graphics making you think you need to make faster consoles, pc's, graphics cards et al

Frezzeing it here for a will force the programmers to make better games with better and lean coding.
If Rockstar can do it, so can the rest.

Funny how these little consoles can play games so well with AMD APU's but with PCs you need at least a $500 gpu to get good gameplay/graphics to make up for the fat in Microslop Windows.

It has VERY LITTLE to do with the OS.
It is much more specific to hardware engineering.
On gaming consoles, you have unified memory, and direct access to the architecture. Games are optimized for a very specific set of hardware instructions, instead of variants

Target only upped the price by $50. Are they increasing the price slowly?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank ThriftyPayless

A restock could just be already paid for merch from a warehouse.
Also on the pros, check the model number to see if the console itself was made in Japan,

If its begins with S01-K , its made in Japan, if the K is not there, its made elsewhere most likely China.
Got a K variant from Target, reports are out there that Costco has Chinese made ones.

Should not matter, specs are the same, but I trust and support Japan over China for many reasons. Lots of the Slims are from Vietnam and thats a good thing too.
