sealers compare to heat sealers?
This vacuum sealer comes with resealable bags. You put your stuff inside the zip-lock bag, place the black sealer pump over the round white disc on the bag and it sucks the air out. Open the zip-lock to remove your stuff. Despite the seller's suggestion that this is suitable for liquid or runny things, any liquids are going to get sucked up through the bag's valve and into the pump. Once that happens both the bag valve and the pump will be virtually impossible to clean. This system should work great on dry stuff, though. I use a virtually identical system to store my printer filament.
A note on bag longevity: although the bag material is pretty heavy duty, banging them around in the refrigerator or freezer will eventually result in a pinhole and you will no longer be able to maintain a vacuum. When my filament bags leak, I fill them with water to find the pinhole, mark it with a sharpie, dry the bag, and place a piece of heavy duty packaging tape over the pinhole.
The bags included in this offer are too small for standard filament spools, but are a good size for the kitchen.
