Look up the story behind Melindas. 2 brothers stole the recipe from Marie Sharp instead of distributing the hot sauce like they promised and trademarked her name. Crooks.

Also check the clearance aisle at the same stores as they carry such a huge stock of these that they regularly hit clearance (I think $2.99 for the single bottles and something like $6.99-7.99 for the 4-5 packs of different bottles). It's one of the items they seem to stock regularly and in bulk.

Not a huge fan of the brand, definitely doesn't have the heat of other locally available sauces, but these always get a bunch of praise online. If you're looking for a tasty and easily available hot sauce, I recommend Marie Sharp's Belizean Heat or Tabasco Scorpion Pepper (which surprisingly puts out a lot of heat, and I have a high tolerance!)

I bought a couple to try it out from Publix (they have BOGO), I would give it a 5/10 on the spicy scale. I need something stronger to make me feel alive.
Try the Marie Sharp's Belizean Heat - you can find it at places like Walmart, it's a little pricier but has a good flavor and heAt to it.

Marie Sharp was the one who originally made the Melinda's hot sauces, then the manufacturer trademarked the name and started releasing the (current) Melinda's hot sauce. The original creator went on to release them under Marie Sharp's. Haven't tried the other flavors, but Belizean is very nice.

For a cheaper one, the Tabasco Scorpion Pepper is another hot one without as much vinegar as the normal tabasco but a high level of heat and flavor to it.

If you don't mind seasoning/salt, the Spice Lab #240 Scorpion Pepper salt on Amazon is delicious and also has a high level of heat and flavor to it for about $10.

Some sauces go more for heat and flavor comes second, the 3 above have a lot of heat but also a very good flavor, but definitely not for people with a low spice tolerence!

Donning royal robes, Princeman arises to the Front Page! Wake up! It's just a dream! J/K

I always check Slickdeals to see if something was on sale before. A lot of times expired deals come alive again. I wanted to share this deal and usually Amazon deals don't last this long. Thanks!, I learned a lot from my own thread!

I bought the 2 bottles for $6. Start out with a tiny amount. You don't need much of this! One bottle lasts me a long time.

I've never had a spicier hot sauce that tasted better. I've had spicier and I've had better tasting but this hits the sweet spot of both.

These things are super sour. It's vinegary sour doesn't let you enjoy any other flavor in it.

I usually, annually try all the hot sauces in the isle, used to shop at Walmart, then sprouts, now im at heb, this is hands down one of the best most authentic Mexican hot sauce you can find for almost anything, it does though now give me acid reflux so maybe i had too much for too long its only been out like 5 years i think

I'm not sure why they get credit really -- I've bought lots of Melinda's based on recommendations and just haven't been a big fan of the flavor (or heat). To me it's always had a somewhat generic flavor to it, but people seemed to really love it, so maybe I'm just the odd one out on it! I've always been a hot sauce fan though and assumed it's more of an easily accessible sauce for people to get which is why they liked it
I also have tried multiple flavors from this brand, and haven't been impressed with any of them, so you aren't the only one.
