Of course, hours after the units were first released to the public, a year ago, people had developed easy ways to add any drive you wanted. It's Linux, after all...
If you make $15 an hour, and this represents 30+ hours of work, I'd say no way.
If you make $100 an hour, and this is just beer money, then, maybe.
It all depends on if you're using the 218+ to the max and if you need 2 more bays and 2.5GB ethernet (which you can get for $19 with a USB 2.5GB NIC in a few minutes...) - if you don't need 2 more bays & faster CPU, then it's pointless to get this.
From a passmark point of view, the DS425+ is about 2.5x faster, which is nice for docker containers and such. But from a networking/gigabit point of view, it's unlikely to be that much faster, if only on gigabit at home. It all depends on what you want to do.
