You gotta make a LOT of pasta to break even with $1/lb store-brand dried pasta.
Factor in dried vs. wet weight, price of flour and eggs (they ain't been cheap for a while!), your time and labor, already owning a several-hundred dollar stand mixer, wear & tear, etc...
That's a lot of pasta. For something that eating dried boxed pasta is totally absolutely fine.

Just used this set today. Bought it a long time ago and have used it quite a bit since. Seems to be very well built. Made in Italy.
Homemade pasta is quick and easy to make. Is it cheaper/easier than store bought? Not a chance. But it isn't difficult to make great homemade noodles and our family likes making it together.
My wife likes to make ravioli, rolling out the dough by hand is pretty tough. The 1 piece, roller only is on sale to, paired with my $10 off 75 Discover card promo that recently activated again, made it even better.

Store bought pasta is a bit like eating cardboard after making your own.
Yeah, after tasting the tasting the stuff inside a Barilla pasta box, giving the box a nibble was worth a try... Some things are worth doing even if its a bit more time and cost. Its about the easiest thing to make and the result tastes far better than the store bought junk.
