This Acer 15.6 inch 1080p portable monitor is best as a thin, travel friendly second screen for work trips and around the house. The stand feels solid, it comes with the needed cables, and USB C can handle both power and video on many laptops. The 1080p resolution is considered adequate for this size, though it can feel a bit low on a 15.6 inch panel. The main tradeoff is value and refurb condition, since Amazon's price and 90 day warranty look weaker than some Acer eBay refurb listings with longer coverage.

Common Questions (5)

  • Acer's eBay refurb listing is reported at a lower price, with some listings carrying a 1-2 year Allstate warranty depending on condition, while Amazon's refurb is described as having a 90-day warranty. The Amazon unit is listed as "excellent" condition, which may be closer to eBay's higher-condition tiers.

    flyboy86stevenngu92Bill McNealMrPromee

  • No case is mentioned with the refurb. The included accessories called out are the USB-C cable and mini-HDMI cable, so it may need its own sleeve or bag protection for transport.

    basicthechasee69pm11088

  • Yes, one USB-C cable can provide both power and video on most laptops. It also includes a mini-HDMI connection, and the monitor can be powered through either USB-C port with 5V/3A when using HDMI for video.

    basicthepm11088

  • For a 15.6-inch screen, 1080p is considered adequate for work trips and general use, including for older eyes. The main caveat is that it is still a bit low in pixel density for this screen size.

  • It can be used as an external display, but DeX compatibility is not guaranteed from the reported setups. One setup worked as an auxiliary monitor over USB-C power plus HDMI to a Windows PC, while DeX was not reliable with various cables.

Dumb question...how are these powered? I'm guessing they don't have a built in battery but does it drain from my device whether laptop or tablet etc? Or it's own USBC powered?

I've bought 3 of these from Acer on eBay for a little cheaper. Very happy with them. The stand is solid and they are thin. They came with USB c cable (supports power + video) and HDMI (mini I believe). To answer the above question, one cable provides power and video on most laptops.

very good refurb - https://www.ebay.com/itm/26722971...SwV71pYXjz

certified refurb - https://www.ebay.com/itm/26722877...Sw-M9pYXjK

probably better off buying from ebay for both. comes with 1-2 yr all-state warranty depending on condition vs. the 90 days from amazon.

I love these spare screens as they're perfect for work trips and plugging into units about the house. 1080p for this size screen is more than adequate, especially for old eyes like mine.

Do these come with a case or anything? How are you transporting it in your bag?

Powers through either one of the 2 USB-C ports with 5V 3A. Then your video signal comes through the mini-HDMI (a mini HDMI to regular HDMI cable is included). I've tried using DeX with various cables, but can't quite figure it out. Currently just using it as an auxiliary monitor via USB-C power and HDMI to a USB 3.0 (type-A) to my windows PC.
