This OMEN MAX 45L is a 5090 gaming desktop whose main appeal is the RTX 5090 at a price that lands around $3,510 to $3,550 with coupon NOTKIDDING30. The build also includes a Ryzen 7 9700X, 32GB of DDR5, and a 1TB SSD, and the full PC is seen as a solid way to get the card plus the rest of the system. The main cautions are HP's bulky case, minimal cooling and software limits, plus the 9700X being viewed as a lower tier CPU for this class. Shipping may also run about two weeks, so it suits buyers who can wait and can live with OEM tradeoffs.

Common Questions (5)

  • The code works when applied before checkout, but it may fail if you're signed into an EPP account. Using an incognito tab or signing out can make it apply, and the promo drops the listed $5,019.99 MSRP to about $3,513.99.

  • The displayed price is before promo; with NOTKIDDING30 the 5090 build comes down to about $3,510-$3,514, plus free shipping. That puts the RTX 5090 system far below current standalone 5090 pricing.

  • The 9700X is viewed as the lower-end part of this configuration, and some would prefer at least a 9800X3D for a high-end gaming desktop. For gaming, the 9900X is not considered an upgrade over the 9700X, while productivity workloads may benefit more from the higher CPU.

  • Yes. The 5090 has been estimated to sell around $3,000-$3,300 locally or on Facebook Marketplace, while the non-GPU parts may bring roughly $600-$850, though eBay fees can cut net proceeds to around $2,900-$3,000.

  • Estimated shipping is about two weeks, with some orders showing mid-May ship dates. If you need the system quickly, the delay is the main catch on this deal.

9700X is a deal breaker for me. The coupon is 30% overall so I did the following upgrades.

9700X to 9900X = 50$ value (in amazon);
2x16gb to 2x32gb = 600$ value (in amazon for 6400MT/s. Looks like HP is getting rid of 6000MT/s)
+ wifi 7 (nice to have) + performance drive (yolo)
Upgrades total: $3992.79 - $3,517.49 (deal std price) = 475.30. I think the upgrades are worth the amount. Anyone disagree?

For gaming the 9900x is no better than the 9700x. The only CPU that will boost gaming performance is the 9800X3D.Similarly there is no performance advantage in gaming for having over 32GB system memory. For productivity that's a different story.

That is pretty good, just the GPU sells pretty close to that new unless you get lucky.

Most of these will probably be shucked for the GPU. 32GB seems to be overkill for everything except AI and render rigs.

Don't worry about him. He just doesn't like me and comes out to troll.

Sorry to give you some collateral dmg.

Just enjoy the 5090 when it arrives. I need to write some new code to really use that thing when it comes. #Motivation

The ones you don't need. 5090 can do everything the first 2 can since it has 32GB RAM. I'd keep the 5090 unless you can flip it at a good price and just rinse and repeat the 5090 purchase process when a deal comes up. I'd do that for fun if I can find a good price.

Awesome! I already have the 5090 FE. I bought it last August from Best Buy, and it's been magnificent. I'm hoping there's another Founder's Edition restock so I can upgrade my 5080 FE to the 5090 FE. I'll either give my wife the 5080 FE as an upgrade to her 4070 or sell it locally.

Sounds right. I need it for AI and most of the work is done right on the GPU so I kept the config as is since I don't want to spend the $490 extra to upgrade to 64GB (less after coupon) since I will keep everything running within the 32GB VRAM and not bleed over to CPU and system ram $3750 or so out the door. CPU plus 64 gb ram was like $1000 extra MSRP and would break my idea of a deal. Another gent mentioned gaming use the cpu upgrade may not matter either so I think I made the right choice

I got this PC the last time they had the sale but they're really hooked me up, with a 9950x3d and 128gb RAM for like $4k. I stressed tested it and works great for me.

I bought two of these for GPU's. Surprisingly all components seems/can be used as generic except MOBO. Even PSU was modular.

The CPU is lower end for this computer. Should be at least a 9800x3 d
Yea they always combine weird specs like this plus only 1TB storage to bring the price down.
