I bought this restored unit last summer for $222. It was dead on arrival, the wasn't motor working. I was able to get it replaced and it's still working fine now. Good deal, but make sure to check it out immediately and not hang on until after the 90 days warranty.

This is an inverter AC unit, it is the most efficient type of portable AC unit. Here is a link to the Energy Guide. Note that it's off the end of the efficiency chart. Some window units may be better, but I can't use them. I can't speak to reliability.

This restored Midea Duo portable air conditioner is praised for strong cooling, quiet operation, and better efficiency than single hose portables thanks to its inverter, dual hose in one hose design. It has kept bedrooms and garages comfortable in hot weather, and the app, remote support, and window kit make setup flexible. Several units arrived like new with all parts, though some boxes were damaged or opened and a few were missing accessories. The main caution is reliability and warranty risk, since dead on arrival units, error codes, and heavy return hassles have all been reported, making careful inspection important.

  • The inverter design can deliver efficient cooling compared with single-hose portable AC setups.

    PowerPCCoralFaucet274

  • The unit can run quietly enough for work calls without noticeable disruption.

    LannieQ

  • The app control can schedule the AC to come on at night or when desired.

    dealbofkus

  • The cooling performance can hold bedroom temperatures in the mid-to-high 60s during very hot weather.

    khalpin11

  • The unit can work well as a backup during HVAC outages for rental properties.

    shoulda2

  • Returns and warranty claims can be difficult because the unit is very heavy and coverage can be limited.

    flushingqueensROB.E.REINhpdw

  • The restored unit can arrive dead on arrival with a non-working motor.

    LannieQflushingqueens

  • Shipping and packaging can arrive damaged, including pry-open refurb signs and missing adapters.

    BlueApparel3739hpdw

  • The restoration process can be minimal, with some units reportedly only having box tape redone.

Picked one up a few weeks ago for $210 restored from Walmart. Using it and a few other units until the main AC is replaced in the house. Working great so far. No complaints. Kept the house in the middle 70s when it hit 100 outside.

2 hoes are better than 1, 2 hoes do double the duty that 1 hoes can do, and you save money

likely the only thing restored was the tape on the box.
More like a sensor replaced

In my opinion, the Midea U Shape window unit is way more quiet - mainly because the compressor is outside. Even sitting outside, it's not that bad - but definitely noticeable. If you work from home or taking a call, the portable unit will not disturb you at all; minimal noise no more than a Lasko oscillating fan on level 2 of 3. The regular 5000 BTU is noisy, brand new or not.

I bought this last year. I have it set up to cool the garage. It works really well, I'm very satisfied. With the app it is set to come on at night or whenever I want, and does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Absolutely love these Midea units. Bought the 10,000 BTC unit new 3 summers ago from sam's club and has been excellent every summer.

Last year I bought a this same 12,000 BTU model refurbished from walmart or sam's and it's worked even better than the first one.

Moved the smaller one into my office and then the bigger refurb one into the master bedroom and now my bedroom stays at 66-68 degrees all summer when it's 95+ out.

These also can hook up to home assistant via a custom integration if you are so inclined so you can turn it on max power remotely when you're on the way home from work or a long day in the sun.

So much quieter than other portable ACs i've had in the past too

I have one of these for our rental properties, if the AC goes out I'll take one of these over and put it in there until the main unit gets fixed (sometimes HVAC folks are backed up 2 weeks at peak time).

Have worked well for that purpose and kept an 1100sq ft house at 72 when it was 80 outside in the main living area/kitchen/etc

Bought this last year refurbished, but on Ebay. The box wasn't in the best condition, but the AC and everything else seemed pretty good or like new. It looked like it was maybe used for a day or so? Luckily mine hasn't given me any issues. This unit is a lot bigger than I thought, but that's just due to my inexperience buying a 12,000BTU AC haha... The window mount/partition leaves much to be desired. I ended up cutting up a piece of wood and 3D printed the mount to attach the tube for a more permanent/sturdy solution.

Bought a Midea Duo 10,000 BTU at Sam's Club. The thermostat always thinks the room is colder so then the AC is always off. Have to lower the setting below what it thinks for AC to work. Support said to return it to store.
