textbook definition of a BIFL item (buy it for life)

we are still using the set we bought 25 yrs ago. though i will say, we use the 10" way way more than the 12", but it's still great to have both. the larger pan really is massive though, and for what we use it for it would have been better to get the one with the 2 short handles and not this one

Great cookware. No need to spend more than this for some other brand or shiny cooking surface.

I love my Lodge skillet as well. I would recommend considering https://www.lodgecastiron.com/col...dutch-oven instead if you want a deeper pot with a 10" skillet as the lid. There is a coupon now for $10 off to cover the shipping costs or you can wait for a better discount.

Great deal! We got one as a wedding gift 15 years ago and it gets used almost daily. We also bought the larger 14" or 15" skillet a few years ago and I like that even a little bit more for the extra cooking surface.

You don't need to get a new one, that's the point, it gets better with age. Like you guys, i had to look up my slickdeal for nostalgia's sake and to sanity check prices. I'm sure it's not all inflation, Amazon probably pulled a China on this one, and sold loss leaders for market penetration.

Still:

Lodge Logic 10-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet

Agreed too, the 10in is my go-to pan. And my wife gets anemia, so the iron is a plus over teflon in that way too. And you can use a straight metal spatula and really give it the scraping business. And the pre-seasoning has never been penetrated, the ones I had to self-season took ages to catch up and never got the same even coat. I have tons of these now. The large flat bottom is twice the size of the teflon pans, better for everything but especially browning tortillas for street tacos.

Oh here's the actual 12in, the base price is closer to the same, but it had a discount and it was before Amazon started charging sales tax, and pre-Prime of course, remember that?

I prefer the Baker's Skillet (2 loop handles) in this side to reduce the footprint a bit. 12" is the go to size for a family of 4-5.
