This is crap, returned mine. I had the flip 6 and charge 5, they connected to each other. Flip 6 dies, I get flip 7, they don't connect. JBL support says I needs to upgrade charge 5 to 6. Wtf? Bluetooth and WiFi , even Sonos have decades of backwards compatibility but JBL just wants me to throw old equipment away?

Good deal, but delivery is slow. Purchased March 31st, and still hasn't shipped with estimated delivery date of Apr 14th.

It sucks when they don't make them backwards compatible.

Key Differences Between JBL Flip 6 and Flip 7:
  • Audio & Power: The Flip 7 provides slightly higher power (35W vs 30W). It includes AI Sound Boost for better bass and less distortion at high volumes.
  • Battery Life: The Flip 7 lasts up to 14 hours (up to 16 with "Playtime Boost") compared to the Flip 6's 12-hour battery life.
  • Durability: The Flip 7 has an IP68 rating, allowing for deeper water submersion (1.5m) compared to the Flip 6's IP67 rating (1m).
  • Connectivity: The Flip 7 uses Auracast [google.com] to pair with newer JBL speakers, while the Flip 6 uses the older PartyBoost system. They cannot connect to each other.
  • App & EQ: The Flip 7 provides a 7-band custom EQ in the app, whereas the Flip 6 only has a 3-band EQ.
  • Design & Controls: The Flip 7 replaces the string lanyard with a detachable carabiner/push-lock system.
