The retail pricing of this cable is egregious, and this clearance price is still just somewhat competitive with other 1m Thunderbolt certified cables.

There is a $10 certified Thunderbolt 4 cable on the market now. It even exceeds the 100W rating on the Apple cable at 240W.

Otherwise, there are plenty of good quality USB-IF certified 40Gbps and faster cables on the market for about half the Apple cable price. This class of certified USB cable will be functionally identical to a Thunderbolt cable. Some examples:

I'd buy the cablematters example you gave. The belkin one isn't comparable and I'd happily overpay for the very few laptop cables I need to avoid the no-brand first example.

If saving money on the one or two thunderbolt cables most folks need isn't a priority the Apple versions are still as nice or nicer than pretty much all other cables

You're right, I didn't notice that the Belkin example was 20Gbps, so I've removed it.

The $10 Mokin Thunderbolt cable is very interesting since it's less than half the price of every other 1m Thunderbolt cable I'm aware of. I went ahead and bought one to evaluate for myself, it's on the way 😁

Sure, the Apple cable feels like quality. I just want to make sure people are aware that you don't need to spend that much money to achieve this speed at this length.
