a reminder that the R6 Mark III came out a few months ago, and if you don't need all the bells and whistles, the R8 has the same sensor with a cheaper price that can still do very well.

In my humble opinion, both the R6 II and the R8 should be a lot cheaper by now. Yes, there are the newly introduced tariffs (which are a tax on us, NOT on Japan). But the Yen is super weak, and that yen weakness more than offsets the tariffs' impact.

I paid this price Feb '25 for my R6 II. I've been really surprised it hasn't dropped more than it has since the R6III came out.

This right here. You can often pick up the Canon R8 refurbished for around a $1,000. Is it a pro-tier camera? Eh, not really -- but it's an excellent hobbyist/amateur/mid-tier camera.

And even in 2026, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value.

Precisely my point. You could get the R6 II fake-refurbished from Canon for this price for quite some time now.
