You can use https://audiobookdb.net to check prices to see whether the sale prices are worth committing to a temporary subscription.

For casual listeners like myself with a paid Spotify account, you can stream/download up to 15 hours of audiobooks per month. It's not much, but usually enough for one or two books.

Community Reviews

Audible is running a strong sitewide audiobook sale with standout prices on popular series and wishlist titles, including Project Hail Mary for $5.99, Dungeon Crawler Carl around $4 to $5, and Expanse books 7 through 9 near $4 each. Other deals include Alex Rider at $2 to $3 and Jim Weiss stories around $2 for younger kids. The best pricing appears tied to active Premium Plus or Silver access, while trial, Standard, or expired plans may not show the discounts. Sale items can also show as 1 Credit at checkout, so the dollar price needs to be selected carefully.

  • people on Audible Premium Plus who want to bulk-buy audiobooks from their wishlist during a short sale window because commenters say you must be logged in with an active Premium Plus membership to view/purchase the sale items and they were able to buy many titles at 80%+ off (e.g., 11 books for $35, or ~35 wishlist books under $5).

    StrawMan86flamadiddleDidntRealizeINeed

  • parents looking for cheap kid-friendly listening because commenters say Jim Weiss storytelling audiobooks are about $2 each and include suggested age levels.

    ljfljf

  • Dungeon Crawler Carl fans who are okay paying cash instead of using credits because commenters report Dungeon Crawler Carl titles were on sale and they bought multiple copies for about $4-$5 each.

    belltifr

  • long-time Audible members who track wishlist prices and only jump when titles drop under about $9 because one commenter said this was the first time half their wishlist was heavily discounted to ~$7 or under, and they treat $11+ as "credit territory" they can wait on.

    Armchair_Allstar

  • casual listeners who only need a small amount of listening time because one commenter said with a paid Spotify account you can stream/download up to 15 hours of audiobooks per month, which is usually enough for one or two books.

    ratbastard

  • buyers who are relying on credits and plan to cancel immediately after because commenters warn that unused monthly credits are forfeited when you cancel/expire, and that Standard-tier access can stop when your subscription is cancelled.

    ancho26Mjs617BadMouth

  • people on the $8/month Standard plan (one credit per month) because commenters say they don't see the sale prices at all on that layer.

    ThackeryBinksenjay23

  • people who want to keep every "credit" purchase permanently while on the newer Standard plan because commenters say Premium Plus credit-purchased audiobooks remain available after cancelling, while the newer Standard plan does not.

    ancho26clarkkent06

  • people on the $0.99/month non-Premium subscription because commenters report the sale doesn't seem to work for them on that plan.

    Wasser

  • trial members because commenters say the deal does not appear to apply to trial membership.

Do I have to be a subscriber? I was brought to the subscription page. I'd like to get some audio books but don't want a subscription. Can I at least browse the sales before deciding if I'd want to subscribe?

And after that, recommend We Are Legion, We Are Bob. Different author - same narrator (Ray Porter).

Unsure if it's on sale though since I own it already.

Anyone know if you can buy from the sale with the "standard" subscription that they are offering for $1 right now?

Most likely will work. Click on the sale banner on audible.com and find out. Please report back.

My premium membership expired in January and I was able to buy from the sale without resubscribing to either Standard or Premium

Massive Audible Sale. YMMV

Everything on my wishlist was at least 40% off, many close to 90% off.

I bought about 15 books on my wishlist for only $80.

If bought outright would have been at least $400. If using credits, would have been at least $225.

It says Premium Plus Members only. But you probably should check and see if you can buy at the sale prices.

I'm a "silver" member, and see the discounts.

Note: Silver is the hidden cheapest plan offered if you try to cancel. It's 1 credit every other month instead of monthly, perfect when just waiting out deals. Since you can typically by extra credits when you want, no downside

I'm on the $8 per month plan for one book credit per month and I don't see the sale prices.
