The DeWalt StealthSonic 12 gallon wet dry vac stands out for being unusually quiet while still feeling powerful, with several comparisons to loud Ridgid and Craftsman shop vacs. The 2.5 inch hose and contractor kit add appeal, and the premium hose is described as more rubberized and less likely to kink. The main tradeoff is size, since the 12 gallon body can feel large for smaller spaces, though the quieter exhaust and lack of blower function are part of what make it so calm to use. At $75, it reads as a strong value for a shop or garage setup.
DIYers doing woodworking dust collection who want to run a dust separator because one user said they use the vacuum through a dust separator for woodworking dust collection and another said it worked well hooked up to a dust separator + table saw.
renovation contractors or homeowners doing long cleanup sessions who need a quieter wet/dry vac because multiple commenters said they no longer need ear protection/earbuds and that it's "unbelievably quiet" compared with their older vacs.
shop/garage owners who get annoyed by a clunky, loud shop vac because this DeWalt is described as much quieter (you can have a normal conversation while it runs) and less "blow" noise without a power drop.
people upgrading from a Ridgid shop vac who want easier usability because commenters said the better wheels, better hose, quieter sound, and more HP make it go from "good enough" to an "easy tool to use."
buyers who specifically want the 12-gallon size for shop use because one commenter said it will stay in the shop/garage since it's likely too large for their space, implying it fits best when you have room.
people who want a deal even if they're not a Costco member because a non-member said that after the 5% upcharge it was still a better deal than Lowe's.
people expecting a blower function for clearing debris because commenters clarified it can't be used as a blower and that the quiet design comes from muffled exhaust rather than a blower that runs continuously.
buyers who need a smaller hose/port setup because the 12-gallon uses a 2 1/2" hose/adapter (not the 1 7/8" used on the 9-gallon), so they may need compatible accessories.
renters or anyone trying to fit a shop vac into a small closet because one commenter said they would have preferred the 9-gallon version since the 12-gallon is probably too large for them.
people who want to rely on the included hose without considering hose-rotation accessories because one commenter suggested an aftermarket swivel vac-hose tip to save sanity if the hose doesn't rotate easily.

Not only are they quieter than a standard shop vac, by buying through Costco they stand behind it with their great warranty.
