The rule states that they will not allow firmware updates after March 1, 2027.
Everything this admin does is so poorly executed it is insane. Let's stop all security updates to improve security...
There is a case for improving security standards but doing it in a logical way would not line their pockets. This is a shakedown, a few donations and this block will be bypassed.
All that being said this is pretty old already. Released in 2022 and it will only get security updates until 30th September 2026. That is a very short support life and would have me avoiding TP-link anyway.

I have this but with only two of the access points. Mine are hard wired back haul but it's solid and I get my full gig download speed even on wifi6....6e gets me a tiny bit more but it's a very slim difference

I have the regular XE75 that lose support in 2028. They are quite a bit cheaper but only two more years of support. Not sure of TP-Link track record but "TP-Link will provide security update support to the following products up to 28 Feb 2028, and extended support may be provided after the stated date"

Not sure how much I trust the 'may' provide

I'm returning the XE70 Prop which is the new model of the XE75. My 2018 Orbi produces faster speeds and lower latency. I was surprised. Now looking at Eero.

I've had the nearly identical AXE5300 for a couple years now, and it's rock solid. Never needs reboots, covers my whole ranch-style house and an acre or so outside, and it's fast.

I checked the news, it says NOTHING about this product since its an existing already approved product and also future products from this company will fall under the US since its moved to the US.

It has no effect on existing routers that already have passed the FCC approval process, the ban is only on brand new devices that are yet to receive FCC approval. As for the future firmware cutoff dateline thats in 2027 and its also subject to change.

"Future Uncertainty: The FCC has indicated it may re-evaluate or extend this waiver to allow security patches to continue longer, but for now, March 1, 2027, is the designated date."

There is no way your 2018 Orbi did better because it would be a wifi 5 device, it cant even compare, if for some reason it was, you got a faulty product or had a setup issue, or user error...

Why would I lie? My Orbi AC2200 was getting 800Mbps download and 300 upload. The Deco was in the 500's for download and barely cracked 100 for upload. Those are facts.
