Nice price but Hobotech mentioned this unit has an idle consumption of 73w which is quite high and fan noise is loud.

True. But not that terribly high considering the size of the inverter. Also, this is more of a whole house generator. You would probably have the fifty amp plug plugged into your breaker box for backup power. The sound probably won't matter all that much. Unless you're trying to sleep and you have it with you in a bedroom. Hobotech did give this a good review based on value despite a few shortcomings...

There's been quite a few Teslas that have burned as well.. yet I don't see a giant boycott for that reason.
I appreciate the info but how many tens of thousands of oupes have been sold and this is the first time this has been heard of. We also do not know what sort of tampering/weird charging this guy was doing. I know if I spent 10k+ on that system and all those expansion batteries and I did something stupid that damaged them, I too would try to blame oupes in hopes they refunded/replaced. That's a lot to just lose. It's human nature.
Bottom line is we don't have enough info, just what this guy says and that may be "bail me out of something I did" based info.
