Our Hisense TV has never received updates that improve it, just serve more ads. Blocking the ad servers also disrupts function. They think it's OK to force a user to navigate past ads on a device they've purchased. Never touching anything from this vendor.
And yeah, Windows does it too. And so many TVs. The number of acceptable products narrows every year.

I think this is very similar to Costco's offering. Same price online but Costco comes with free installation (including installing a mount and running wires). Also has a 5 year warranty if you use the Costco Visa. If you don't care about the install and delivery its normally about $200 less instore.
