Yes they do, it just costs more to maintain. Likewise, a luxury watch also often needs periodic maintenance - something unheard of for a smartwatch.

Why would it be replaced in 4 years? Just get the battery replaced for 99 from apple (they actually give you a brand new "refurbished" watch) and keep using it. I have the gen 1 ultra and not going to stop using it unless Apple makes a round one or some new design. If you think that's too much money don't look up how much it costs to maintain a mechanical watch.
