Gibson rarely has their guitars on sale. This deal is only through Sweetwater as I searched everywhere else for the same guitar. I couldn't pass this up since I have been wanting a real Gibson Les Paul 60's. They have the same color and price for the 50's as well. The sale is only for the burgundy color. The rest are full price at $2599. This is $600 off and comes with a Gibson hard case.
The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Plain Top boasts the classic design that's kept this solidbody electric guitar relevant, played, and loved throughout the decades. You get tried-and-true maple-over-mahogany construction, and its '60s Burstbucker pickups milk every ounce of tone out of its musically resonant body. The Les Paul Standard '60s Plain Top's set mahogany neck wields Gibson's time-tested SlimTaper profile, and its 12-inch-radius Indian rosewood fingerboard offers playability that's second to none. A Graph Tech nut, ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons round out this Les Paul Standard's hardware. You also get single-ply body and fingerboard binding, acrylic trapezoid fingerboard inlays, a mother-of-pearl headstock logo, and a spotlight-stealing nitrocellulose lacquer finish. If you've been wanting a modern Les Paul with a slinky '60s feel and premium appointments, Sweetwater has your axe. The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Plain Top is the one you've been waiting for.

This Les Paul Standard 60s Plain Top is drawing praise for its classic Gibson recipe, with maple top, mahogany body, Burstbuckers, and the familiar feel, sound, and appearance that make the model appealing. The current $600 discount is described as decent, and the 48 month card financing adds flexibility. Setup matters here, since a $50 luthier setup is called out as enough to make it ready to go. The main caution is pricing history and retailer condition, with past lower prices and concerns about some sellers shipping floor models or poorly checked guitars.
Sweetwater shipments reportedly arrive with the guitar condition as stated, which can reduce setup and inspection surprises.
The guitar's maple top, mahogany body, and Burstbuckers combination reportedly delivers strong sound, feel, and appearance.
A luthier setup reportedly helped make the guitar "good to go" when adjusted to the strings the player uses.
Some 60s Standards reportedly feel awesome to play, supporting confidence in the model's playability.
Musicians Friend orders reportedly may come from floor-played stock and may not be inspected or set up again before shipping.
Musicians Friend purchases reportedly arrived not set up, with finish issues and horrible intonation, leading to a decision not to buy Gibson again.
The $1,999 + tax price reportedly may not feel like a deal compared with prior lower prices for similar plain top or custom color Standards.
Setup cost expectations can be higher than the $50 figure, since NYC luthier setups reportedly range from $80 to $100.

Came across this knowledge when I had planned to buy a LP in 2023 from MF and I got a call from a random GC in Seattle saying if its cool if they ship it in a case that wasnt from Gibson cause they dont have any in stock. I cancelled my order then and there. Bought from Zzounds instead as they usually ship guitars sealed from pass experience. Couple years later i bought a Open box LP standard from SweetWater from here and it came as stated.
Dont blame Gibson. Next time research the retailer that sells them.
