This compact Elecom GaN charger stands out for packing up to 65 watts from a single USB C port, with enough output to replace a MacBook Air adapter and still charge an iPhone at the same time. The small size is a plus, and the Japanese brand name and cTUVus and PSE marks add some confidence. The main drawbacks are the awkward form factor, which can make it fall out of outlets, and a report of failure right around the 30 day mark. Delivery is also running nearly three weeks out.

Common Questions (4)

  • The compact, heavy form factor can make it fall out of some outlets. It is not an outlet-receptacle issue; the shape and weight are the reported cause.

  • The charger is rated for up to 65W on a single port, which is the headline spec for this deal. One comment also describes a similar ELECOM unit as 80W max on one port, so check the exact model before buying.

  • Yes, it can replace a MacBook Air adapter and still charge an iPhone at the same time. It is also smaller than the original MacBook adapter.

  • It does not have a UL safety mark. It carries cTÜVus and Japanese PSE diamond marks instead.

Design looks unstable and most likely keep falling off the outlet.

Does it say that? AI says production is likely in China even if design is in Japan

It seems to be good on the paper. 65W max 1 port is rare at this price point. Also Japan quality.

Guys! Replace your outlet. It's like $2.50 for a new receptacle and if you want to go hog wild - get the ultra heavy duty at HD for $7.50. It's a once in a lifetime replacement.

They used to have 120w and 150w as well. I've been buying these up for a while.

I have this one as a replacement adapter for Macbook Air and It's convenient that I can charge iPhone at the same time though it's smaller than the original Macbook adapter.

That's a risk with these form factors, but Anker's comparable 735 65W charger has almost identical dimensions, so it's not an outlier.

Elecom is a legit Japanese brand, kind of similar to Kensington in their product mix, heavy on input peripherals, but maker of tech accessories in general. Walk into a store in Asia, and their products will be on the shelf, and not just in an online seller context.

And before anyone asks, this does not have a UL safety mark. It carries a cTÜVus mark, as well as the Japanese PSE diamond mark.
