Each size comes in a fully printed cardboard box that contains 6 smaller boxes of 4 batteries. The two boxes come in a brown cardboard box. Seems like a lot of effort to counterfeit.

I question if you can use the storage life to judge if they are fake or not. I assume the image on Amazon showing 12 is just an older image. The Energizer stie shows 15 years for AA and AAA batteries. Larger batteries do show a shorter shelf life.
