Valvoline Hybrid ATF is being used as a low cost universal style fluid for top offs and drain and fills in vehicles that call for Dex VI, Dex 6, Ford and Hyundai Kia LV specs, Honda DW1, and Toyota WS. It is also described as working in non hybrid vehicles, with smooth shifting after a drain and fill and even use in older trucks and power steering systems. The main caution is fitment, since some applications call for ULV instead, and the hybrid label makes Toyota WS and similar cases worth double checking. A flexible pick when the spec match is confirmed.
doing a Dex VI transmission fluid change or flush on a vehicle that specifies Dex VI because commenters say it meets Dex VI and that the fluid is compatible (for example, a 2012 Buick Enclave that takes Dex VI).
Honda/Acura owners who need Honda DW-1 because commenters say it works for Honda DW1 needs based on their search and that it's approved per Valvoline's spec sheet.
owners of Ford/Merc LV or Hyundai/Kia SP IV automatics who want a cheap quart for service because commenters report it "will work fine" for Ford/Merc LV and Hyundai/Kia SP IV, and they had enough quarts at their local store to do multiple changes.
drivers doing a top-off (not a full drain/fill) for a vehicle that calls for the correct LV synthetic ATF because commenters say you can use it for top offs, while reserving ULV for a full drain/fill.
people working on a 4L80E transmission who are trying to avoid damage during a fluid swap because one commenter said it "might not damage my 4L80E."
DIYers with a beater vehicle that specifies Dex II or Dex III for power steering fluid because a commenter bought quarts to swap power steering fluid on a beater that calls for Dex II/III.
Ford Maverick Hybrid owners who need ULV because a commenter specifically noted the Maverick Hybrid uses ULV, implying this LV-labeled fluid may not match that requirement.
anyone planning a full drain/fill on a vehicle that requires ULV because commenters recommend using ULV for a full drain/fill (even if the fluid can be used for top-offs).
Honda/Acura shoppers trying to match Idemitsu Type H Plus fitment for a 2008 Honda Accord because commenters say they need DW-1 but the Idemitsu fitment guide shows Type H Plus while they only see TLS-LV on Advance Auto Parts.
Toyota owners who are trying to confirm compatibility with regular ATF WS transmissions (not hybrid-specific guidance) because one commenter said it's hard to tell if the hybrid-labeled Valvoline fluid can be used in regular ATF WS transmissions and questioned how it differs from other Valvoline products.

Honda ATF Dw-1 runs $9 quart at my local dealer. The Idemitsu variant for DW-1 is Type H Plus.

Reading thru, everything under the sun is listed in ther.. 🤔
It's hard to tell if you can use this in regular ATF WS transmissionsas well? Since it says hybrid on the bottle.. it has good dielectric conductivity, but does NOT explain how its different from the reg valoline maxline?..
Stranger yet, in the case of Toyota's both hybrids and non-hybrids use the ATF WS.. however the replacement vendors have different replacements for regular Toyota vehicles versus hybrid Toyotas vehicles..

i just used this in a 2008 Honda that takes dw1 and it isnt a hybrid. it shifts smooth as it did before the drain and fill. i also have a lexus that i plan on using this in. it takes toyota ws and im sure this will be fine.
