Yep I picked one up to chop up an 80 ft tree that fell and didn't bother with the 2.5. I've gone through 4 charges of a 5ah so far. Been great though.

I have the saw and its the same experience. Eats battery quickly, but it is powerful and I haven't used my gas saw in years.

Have the 18in one with battery 2.5 last about 10-15 non stop cutting. U need an extra battery to do decent work. Charging takes long time probably 2 hours

With that 2.5ah battery, it'll probably be more of a disappointment with the Chainsaw and Ego itself than anything else. If you decided to buy this, make sure you at least get another 4-5 ah battery. Or if you can afford it, get the 7.5ah battery. The 7.5ah is plentiful but also very heavy.

I've had this for years. One additional tip- store this upside down (chain brake down) to keep chain oil from leaking while stored. These electric chainsaws don't have a pump for the bar &chain oil like gas chainsaws, they are just gravity-fed.

Ideally you would run it dry before storing, but if you can't, this will prevent you from having to clean up a mess when you come back to it.

pretty good weekend warrior chainsaw. I had two trees that came down on my fence a month ago and finally got to break it out with the 5ah battery I got on one of the leafblower deals that came through in the past - and it only went down about 2 bars on the battery after cutting up two oak trees that were about 14" at the base. Lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. No idea how it would fare on a locust tree though...

I find the 2.5Ah battery adequate for most "regular" storm cleanup, and trimming, and rarely need to swap out to a 5Ah, but yes, an 80' tree is on a whole different level. Hope you had a good chipper at your disposal. As for the saw itself, I can't imagine myself ever going back to a gas chainsaw, though my Stihl served me well for many years. This model was a nice upgrade from the 16" model that it replaced. Very close to the 18" now in terms of power, but in a size that's pretty much perfect for most folks.

Thanks Eugene! Maybe I'll be able to store my Dewalt saw without having to drain the oil.
