Yes. I did this exact upgrade. MBP 14 M1Pro 16GB to MBA 13 M5 16GB and it great: thinner, lighter, faster app loads, faster llama.cpp and ollama TTFT and TPS, better at games.
MBA screen is def worse color and brightness. But that's the trade off we make.
A lot faster than a M1 Pro. My m1 pro screen died so instead of taking the credit card insurance money and repair it, I'm going to get this M5 and use the m1 pro as a desktop
I was able to price match my March 22nd order of $1049 for $949 and the $50 Best Buy gift card for buying a laptop over $500 just hit my account last week
