And then there's the issue of what happens after the ice melts. The water spreads out into a puddle and then quickly refreezes again.
Community Reviews
This propane torch is mainly valued as a small, adjustable flame tool for weeds, charcoal, outdoor fireplaces, wasp removal, and occasional food searing. The igniter and front handguard add convenience, and it can run from a camping canister or a larger 20 pound tank with an adapter. The main knocks are its cheap plastic build, short range, and reports of the flame going out or even catching fire if pushed too hard. It seems best as a handy, low-cost torch for light-duty jobs rather than heavy blasting.
Common Questions (5)
It can kill weeds, but it works best by briefly scorching them until they look slightly crispy rather than trying to burn them to ash. That approach is useful around mulch or on damp days, but it still carries a brush-fire risk if used carelessly.
Yes, it is used for starting charcoal and outdoor fireplaces, and it can also help get a brush pile or bonfire going. One practical method mentioned is to use a little lighter fluid and airflow after the flame starts to build heat quickly.
Yes. It can be attached to a 20 lb propane tank, and adapters can connect it to 100 lb cylinders as well. The torch is also described as working well with a full-size tank for tasks like weed control and starting outdoor fires.
Yes, this model has a built-in ignitor, which makes it easier to use. It uses a camping propane canister by default, though adapters can connect it to larger tanks.
No, it is described as a small torch rather than a long-range flame jet. It also reportedly does not melt driveway ice effectively, because the heat is spread out and the melted water can refreeze.
