The Coway Airmega 300 comes across as a strong whole room air purifier with quiet, effective filtration and enough coverage for large spaces. It is praised for keeping allergies under control, handling dust well, and still working reliably after years of use. The prefilter also traps a surprising amount of dust, which makes upkeep feel worthwhile. The main drawback is filter cost, since original replacements are expensive and rarely discounted. A dependable pick if you want cleaner air and can live with pricier maintenance.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes, OEM replacement filters are reported to be expensive and rarely discounted. Some owners use third-party filters every six months to keep costs down, but others prefer original filters because non-OEM options can smell bad.

  • Yes. It is reported to keep allergies under control, and the prefilter collects a lot of dust. For visible dust and everyday air cleaning, it performs well; for fine particles, it still depends on using proper purifier filters rather than DIY setups.

  • It can cover large areas on paper, but real-world performance depends on room layout, walls, and where you place it. For bigger homes, multiple units may work better than relying on one purifier alone.

  • Yes. It has been bought for $300 before, and this $248.49 price is described as a great deal for a unit that has held up well over time. Long-term owners report it still works after years of use.

Don't get those. They have a bad smell. Get the originals
Does 300 and 400 use same filters? They really look the same at a glance, maybe a different fan/motor only?

I got 400 for $350 but I would rather get add'l units depending on your home layout. Even if you have 1000+ sqft of space the performance depends on rooms walls etc..
I have a 400 on each end of the house near the entryways and a 300 in the middle. I recently started replacing all the filters at the same time—it's much easier than trying to keep track of different schedules. The amount of dust the prefilter collects is incredible. I try to clean it once a month. I think the recommendation is every 2 weeks.

For replacements, I use third-party filters and swap them out every six months. Cost-wise, it's about the same, but getting a fresh set every six months feels better—at least psychologically 🙂.

Thanks for both replies. I was thinking about getting 300 but does everyone think it's much better than winix 5510 when it's used as supplement to others or like Ina bedroom etc. I sure like the cube look though. Smilie
