This TCL Q77K comes across as a big-screen value play, especially for an 85 inch setup with a five year warranty included. The picture is described as strong for the price, with fast, smooth menus and all HDMI ports supporting HDMI 2.1. It also fits bright rooms reasonably well, though off axis viewing is weak, game mode can show smearing, and 4K upscaling can be uneven. A solid budget large TV if you can live without the higher end extras.

Common Questions (5)

  • The QM6K Pro is reported to look sharper and more vibrant thanks to mini-LED backlighting and a glossy screen, while the QM7K is described as better in definition, blacks, brightness, and gaming. The Q77K is the cheaper choice if you mainly want a large 85-inch TV with warranty coverage.

  • Yes. The Costco deal price includes a 5-year warranty, making it a stronger value if you want long coverage on a budget 85-inch TV.

  • It can work well in a moderately bright room, with decent picture quality and fast, smooth menus. It does not have ambient light or auto-dimming, and the QM7K is reported to be brighter with better blacks and less glare.

  • Yes, all HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1. That matters if you want multiple high-bandwidth connections for gaming consoles or other 4K/120Hz devices.

  • It can show some smearing in game mode, and off-axis viewing is not great. For a large 85-inch screen at this price, it is still considered hard to argue with.

How does the QM6k compare to this and the QM7k? Not that much more expensive than this and looks way less than the QM7K

Depends on personal preference, but from what I was able to notice in the warehouse (which isn't highly accurate compared to a home setting, so take this with a grain of salt) the QM6K Pro was sharper and more vibrant than the Q77K due to its glossy (despite the anti-reflective coating) screen and mini-LED backlighting. Whether you care enough about those things to pay $420 more is impossible to say. Personally I might pony up the money if it's my primary TV, but not sure I would be willing to spend that much more for a secondary or infrequently used TV. I have not seen the QM7K and would like to see one in person to compare, but the closest Best Buy near me closed so have not had a chance to do so.
