I've used this oil for years. I drive vehicles that are usually 10+ years old. Oil is changed at or before 5k miles, or with the seasons (I drive my truck once a week). Never had a problem. I think most oil is probably fine as long as you're changing it. Change your oil people!

Cheaper in store?
No in store, each box is 29.99 on sale so this deal is. Superior. I picked up 3 in the store and just order 2, 2 packs. You can't beat this deal. They even have a pack that is one box 0W-20 and one high mileage 5W-30.

Wow, this is an excellent price. At this price you can change the oil twice as often and it'll cost less than one of the fancy oils like Pennzoil or Mobil 1.

I think oil analysis has shown that it's a good oil. As long as you're changing on time, I think any full synthetic you can on the shelf at any major US retailer will be fine, if it's the right viscosity for your vehicle. Unless you have a fancy vehicle or high performance.

I don't recall seeing these in the store. In the past I've only seen the 2-pack of 5-quart bottles.

Those used to go on sale regularly for $24.99. That was a real bargain.

Which is a better value between this and the larger 2-pack? Or do they come out to about the same?
I think this is cheaper, but only available in 5w-30

Either it meets rating standards or it doesn't. The rest is marketing.

Learned this years ago working for a big box auto parts retailer. Oil is essentially refined by two companies: Ashland and BP and private labeled for the likes of the Kirkland Kountry Klub, etc. If you look at the bottom back of the label, you should see "Made Here" and/or a refinery company's logo. 🤓

Dang it, this is a very good deal and Costco has some other big packs of oil on sale, but I only need 0W-20 for our vehicles so I don't want to buy a pack that has 5W-30 etc included.

This is only marginally cheaper than Walmart supertech which is the same oil more or less. I think it's $17 for 5 quarts at Walmart. Lukewarm deal IMO

Then don't buy 5w30 is my recommendation

I think he's saying you really don't have to look for specific name brands and pay more for this brand or that brand. The costco brand synthetic is likely exactly as good as the valvoline synthetic etc. That makes these prices really good.

That's how I usually buy it from costco, the 2x5 Qt jug pack. The only issue is if you have a vehicle that uses a bit more than 5 Qts (like my honda uses 5.7qts), you don't have enough for an oil change if you just have one 5 qt jug, so you end up having to buy an additional quart anyway.

Well yeah, of course I won't be buying the 5w30, but Costco has these big packs on sale for a good price but they are 5w-30 or mix different types of oil.

Well, my 06 Land Cruiser, 06 RAV 4 and 1995 Ranger all take 5w 30. I must say however I'm getting too old to be climbing under those things to change the oil. It's not nearly as easy as it used to be.
