Buy a genuine T480s power charger?

Buy a generic power charger that delivers the appropriate wattage?

You're not really giving us much to go on and I'm not willing to scroll through a reddit post to figure out what you're up against...

You can easily measure the wattage coming from your chargers with a cheap multimeter (measure voltage and current and multiply the two results). Assuming it registers where it should be, the issue is either hardware or software in your PC.

One alternative would be to do a format and clean Windows install. That should rule out software issues... Without more information it's hard to suggest anything else. No idea what 'pin hole reset temp' means...

If you are lucky to get a competent person on the phone #.
To measure the voltage current on USB-C, I do not have USB‑C power meter inline.

I am thinking of this "One alternative would be to do a format and clean Windows install.". Then there is this headache of MS Office license activation - I bought one in school and after a few install like this, it is complaining.

As someone who has installed and reinstalled Windows on dozens of PCs ever since Windows 3.1, I completely understand where you're coming from.

That said, it's much easier now.

Also, regarding Microsoft Office, you can get a cheap key for less than $10 any time you want... People refer to them as 'grey' keys I think, which I believe means they are part of a volume licensing meant for corporations? Regardless, I've obtained 3 of them in the past couple of years with zero issues.

Good luck!

@ChinaRider - What is causing this original problem I posted - ie "Connected AC adapter has lower wattage than ... shipped with your computer"?

Subsequently, one Lenovo branded charger stopped working.
The replacement is giving the same error of low wattage - I bought 2 of these on Lenovo.com

Do u think re-installing Win 11 is the way to go?

T430s is capable of having 2 HDs. If you could point me to one on eBay or Amz..., it would make it easier for me to re-install Win 11. This would be a big help.

Note: There is shorter NVME drive that can be installed and booted from. I have this in one of my family member's T430s.

As I said, measure your wattage to rule that out. You can us an in-line USB power meter [amazon.com].

If you know you have the correct wattage then you either have a hardware issue in the PC which is likely too difficult to fix or you could have software issues.

Software issue is an easy fix if you just do a clean Windows install.

You can find hard drives any number of places but I don't know why you'd go that route... Just plug in a flash drive, copy the files you want to save and then start a clean Windows install, formatting the old drive when you do (i.e., don't do a Windows 'repair').

Regarding hard drives, I always recommend the name brands (Crucial, WD, Samsung, etc.).

......
1) I installed the original NVMe HD. The issue persists
2) I tried another charger - this boots another T480s at home without this issue

So the issue is not attributed to the HD or the software installed in it.

There are many others reported this strange issue since 6yrs ago - should this be a manufacturing defect?
