Have these. They're great.
Paired them with a WiiM Amp back when it was on sale for $240ish. Currently $299 though.

really great speakers, nearly holographic with a surprising amount of bass given the size

Are they a significant upgrade over the previous gen Q150?

No, small incremental upgrade, likely not worth it if you already have the Q150.

Can't decide between the KEF LSX II LT ($500 at Costco), which is an all digital speaker with the built in components to hook up to a computer or play wireless, or the KEF Q1 Meta. The Q1 Meta requires an amp but can be used for analog (turntables for example); the LSX II LT cannot. I think for my computer (home office) setup the LSX is a better deal and also cheaper overall.

These been $400 for a least or month. I randomly go to kef specials page and most companies will price match these. These will likely be on "sale" but it's not a die hard sale. Kef will rotate random speakers on sale for few months at a time. I have the tower speakers and the center.

Purchased Klipsch the Nines (Black) for an unbeatable $649... Bought KEF Q1 Meta for $400 the next week.

I have only set up and listened to The Nines.

I have a very strong feeling the Q1 will sound major league compared to The Nines.

Only positive I give the Nines is that they're 8" woofers don't "need" a subwoofer.

For the extra $250-500, a dedicated sub with these Q1s are the way to go.

Appreciate the response. I was thinking that any difference would likely be incremental so it's good to know for certain. It also saves me from having to explain another set of speakers to my wife. 😬

There's a good difference in size as well, the LSX (I have the LSX II) are a decent amount smaller than the Q1s, which helped make the decision for me since I don't have that much desk space.

depends on your needs/setup. i had the "wireless" KEFs for a few days in late dec and the Q1s are sonically better and offer more flexibility (integrated into my AVR as well as for two channel music listening)

For what it's worth I have 5x the q150s in a home theater with a PB1000 subwoofer.

I love them. I can really tell the difference now between a well-mastered and a mediocre audio track for a movie.

The q150s are bright and detailed with wonderful soundstage / positioning.

The Q1s should be very similar or slightly better.

Difference is, when the LSX amp dies on you within X years, you'll be left with an expensive pair of doorstops. With passive speakers, you just replace the mini-amp which can be as cheap as $71, lickety split: https://a.co/d/00flEbw0
