**Key difference**:
- **International versions** (Repair & Protect in UK/EU/Canada/etc.) contain **NovaMin** (5% calcium sodium phosphosilicate). It releases calcium/phosphate ions that react with saliva to form a hard, hydroxyapatite-like layer, physically **occluding** exposed dentin tubules for actual repair and lasting protection.
- **US versions** use potassium nitrate, which only **numbs** nerve endings by depolarizing them (symptomatic relief, no repair or tubule sealing).
**Clinical evidence**: Studies show NovaMin delivers significantly faster and greater hypersensitivity reduction (air/cold stimuli) vs. potassium nitrate—at 2 weeks and beyond—plus superior tubule occlusion.
International NovaMin versions repair sensitivity at the source; US versions just mask it temporarily.

For comparison, the regular in-store Costco price is $1/oz. This deal came to $0.80/oz for me. Costco has one or two of the other versions and it never goes on sale anymore.
