I think you actually kinda want 1 stick. It's easier to go to a 2 stick 32gb setup later

These Micro Center deals kill me. With Fry's gone, what's the rest of the country supposed to do‽Single stick right now is preferable. Straight path to 64GB after the rampocolypse, no waste.

This is a fine deal while we're waiting on RAM prices to become less insane. Buy another 16GB later and you'll be good to go.

This is true, many of these G.Skill sticks end up on eBay already so they're currently readily available in CL36 for pairing up in the future.

True, but you are getting a slight penalty for running in single channel mode when using a single stick.

It's not something you can quantify without a-b testing though. Running a single stick is better than no PC

Microcenter and a few other outlets did test single/dual channel impacts with the x3d chips. Sadly it appears to vary across titles, some having 1% difference and others 30%+. (Not specifically the 7500x3d in any of the tests)

My only gripe with that is this: was the difference due to single vs dual channel or to have 16gb vs 32gb? A thorough test probably would've compared 1x16 vs 2x8 and 1x32 vs 2x16.

I've got tons of DDR3. It's still good stuff.

But this is a very good deal in today's market. It's not perfect, but it's what we've got.
