I have one of these and it's a great starter drone. I got mine from someone who has a ton of drone piloting experience over several drones and he said this is probably the high end best bang for the buck for a noob. I'm an amateur myself and found it pretty easy to get it in the air. The hardest part is the prep with creating a DJI account and the setup process. Just note it doesn't have collision avoidance so it will let you fly it into a tree or whatever. The next step up "Pro" model does but it costs way more than this.

Recommend getting a case and additional battery or two. Don't recommend the blade guards. Got them to fly indoors but feel it's too big to safely play around inside the house.

Every DJI drone that has been release up until early this year is fine. It's new DJI drones being sold going forward that are at risk of not receiving FCC approval.

The Mini 3 stands out as a beginner friendly drone with strong value, especially in the DJI RC bundles that include a built in screen and avoid phone setup. The controller with screen is praised for making flying quicker to set up and more convenient, and the Fly More combo adds extra batteries, a charger, and a case. It is also described as easy to get airborne and capable of solid range. Main caveats are the lack of collision avoidance, the need for DJI account and setup steps, and some packaging or listing concerns around missing controllers or broken seals.

  • The DJI RC option includes a built-in screen so setup avoids using a phone.

    ernikhiljedhekdupuis77

  • The DJI RC remote can be used as a standalone controller with its own screen.

    wingman1659ernikhiljedhe

  • The Fly More RC bundle can be convenient because it reduces phone handling during flights.

    kdupuis77

  • The Mini 3 can be easy to get airborne for beginners after completing DJI account setup.

    Robor

  • The kit may not include the pictured controller, which can change what you receive.

    mystical80Asian888

  • The Mini 3 lacks collision avoidance and can fly into obstacles like trees.

  • Coupon savings require clipping while logged in, and coupons are typically one-time use.

    Wiznaz

  • The deal listing may be misleading because the title image and link do not match the stated discount.

Ok so stupid question, in the Amazon listing it shows a controller w/o a screen yet in all the reviews I see controllers with a screen. Why the discrepancy, what actually comes w/it?

Got it for 175. Was debating since we are mostly in a no fly zone but it was too good to pass up.

So how are you seeing what the drone sees if there's no screen? I always thought these things used your own android or iphone as the screen...

I think from my understanding is that anything prior to April of 2026 models are ok. Anything after that cannot be sold in the US.

Yeah the base (cheaper) models of their drones come with the controller that you have to connect to your smartphone to use. The bundles that include the "RC" model (or "RC2" for the newer drones) essentially has an android phone [screen] built-in that runs the DJI app solely. I just bought the Mini 3 "Fly More" bundle that has the RC controller w/ screen, 2x extra batteries, a multi-charger and carrying case for $499. I've had it a few days now and absolutely love not having to screw with my phone everything I wanna fly.

This is a great value for this price! Yes it has been pennies less here and there in the past but this is still a great deal.

I tried to buy one from Amazon and it was a complete hassle. They lied about trying to deliver it then said I had to give the delivery person a one time secret code. I have cameras on my home and no delivery was ever tried and when they started with the code bs I canceled the order. I can't stay at home with a secret code for a pissy $330 order.

Sounds like you have a crap driver. Mine called me and asked If I wanted to give the code and have him leave it for me. He's at our house frequently. You aren't supposed to give them the code over the phone but I have cameras also on that porch so if he were to take it after receiving the code it would be very obvious
