The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is a 12 inch Android tablet that stands out for its 7 to 5 display, which gives more usable screen space for reading and multitasking than 16 to 10 designs. The Dimensity 7300 is described as decent for the price, with performance ahead of Samsung A11 class tablets and close to some lower midrange rivals. The main knocks are that $300 feels high next to faster iPad and Samsung options, and the WiFi model appears to lack microSD expansion in the USA. Update support also looks uncertain, making it a better fit for buyers who value the screen shape over top tier speed.
Readers and multitaskers who prefer a squarer screen, because the 7:5 display gives more usable screen real estate than 16:10 on a 12-inch tablet.
Media viewers who like a larger 12-inch canvas, because the 7:5 panel keeps the video area feeling appropriately sized.
Android tablet buyers who want decent everyday performance, because the Dimensity 7300 is faster than Samsung's A11+ and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.
Android users who want browser ad blocking, because Firefox with uBlock Origin is available on this platform.
Gamers and performance-hungry tablet buyers, because the processor is described as weak for a $300 device.
People who need expandable storage, because the WiFi-only USA unit has no microSD card slot.
Movie watchers who want the biggest possible video frame, because the 7:5 screen leaves black bars and less viewing area than 16:9 or 16:10.
Tablet buyers who expect long software support, because one report says no OS updates arrived and future Android restrictions may tighten sideloading.

One more thing. Don't expect many OS updates. One guy on gsmarena reported that he never received a single OS update. So keep that in mind for what it's worth.
Some markets have it, some do not.
- Sideloading Lockdown (Sept 2026): Installing apps from developers not verified by Google will become much harder. Unverified apps will require a 24-hour "protective waiting period" during which a reboot takes place, specifically to curb malware and financial scams.
- Mandatory Developer Registration: Developers, including hobbyists or those using GitHub, must register, pay a fee, provide ID, and verify signing keys to install apps on certified Google devices.
- Android 16/17 Behavioral Restrictions:
- Android 16: Apps targeting API level 36+ will be forced into a "universal resizable" mode, ignoring fixed orientation or aspect ratios.
- Android 15+: Stricter limitations on BOOT_COMPLETED receivers for launching foreground services (e.g., dataSync, camera, media).
- Security Patch Endings: Support for Android 13 is ending in early 2026, following the end of support for Android 12, making older devices vulnerable.
- Regional Rollout: The strict verification rules will start in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand in September 2026 before going global by 2027.Android Developers +7
These changes represent a significant tightening of Android's open ecosystem, making it more similar to the restricted environment of iOS.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
This could be the first step into combining Android and Chrome. I believe this is all relegated to Samsung... how Samsung has been fighting with GOogle for over ten years on Android. To tighten in Samsung, google needed to create a need to have more control over the OS.

Apple's hardware is unequal at this price point.
I prefer Oneplus to Samsung or Lenovo. With a Dimensity 7300... you are still getting decent performance. This chip is faster then Samsung's A11+ android tablet. It is also faster (about 10% faster) then Snap Dragon 6 Gen 1.
I understand this is not flag ship speeds, but show me a tablet that is $300 or less then is "faster" then this tablet, and i don't think you can... at least right now.
If you can handle the aspect ratio, I think this is a solid buy. The only tablet that I can think of getting instead of this one is the Google Pixel Tablet with the G2 chip... which is about 10% faster then the 7300 (this deal). When on sale the Pixel tablet can be found as cheap as $250.00.

Well, said. But look at the ipad, apple has not changed it's aspect ratio. I personally have a 16:9 tablet that has an OLED screen which can do 1600nits.
