The Adventurer 5M is a fast, CoreXY starter printer that stands out for easy setup, self leveling, and solid print quality right out of the box. It is praised as a no fuss machine with wired and wireless networking, Orca slicer support, and reliable results on everything from simple models to car gauge pods. The main tradeoffs are its open frame design, which limits harder to print materials without an enclosure, and occasional support or firmware headaches. It is a strong single color workhorse if you want speed and simplicity more than multicolor features.

  • The printer can deliver fast prints with good print quality and a solid build.

  • The self-leveling mechanism can be very reliable and effective at this price point.

  • The CoreXY motion can improve speed and stability compared with bed-slinging designs.

  • AliExpress orders can ship quickly from US warehouses and arrive with minimal delivery issues.

  • It supports both wired and wireless networking and works nicely with Orca slicer.

  • Coupon and checkout pricing can be inconsistent, including codes showing as used up or the price jumping after login.

  • Firmware update 3.2.7 can reportedly brick the printer until rolling back to 3.1.5.

  • Auto-leveling can become inaccurate over time, with buzzing and leveling that only helps briefly.

  • RMA support can become a nightmare, with the printer not working again until months later.

One question I have for anyone with experience with both a FlashForge printer (AD5X, AD5M) and another larger printer from Bambu labs, Anycubic, Elegoo, Prusa, etc (I think I'm done with Creality).

How often do you find the 220mm bed size vs the larger 250 to 256 mm becoming a limiter?

I've been helping my nephew with an ender 3 v3 se he got recently, but coming from a Bambu P2S personally, honestly, the ender has been a bit of a pain. No network connection, no app, subpar leveling (need to tweak z offset), slower print speeds, bad stringing with PETG, and so many bed adhesion issues. I bought him a glacier plate and PEI plate. The PEI plate seems to help quite a bit on the first 2 prints I've tried, but I've had like 20 of 30 or so prints fail due to bed adhesion issues on the included plate.

Thinking of getting this for him, but worried the plate size will be another limitation that has me regretting later.
For my own designs only when I was trying to make the model as big as possible. Most of the downloaded files I've done were from Thingivers (sp?) ands many are from when the Ender 3 sized bed was the standard. With the rise of Bambu and the 250mm bed I could see some designs made for the 250 bed not fitting. I went to a 300mm bed specifically because I'm working on a project where 220 isn't big enough but even 250 isn't much better. Thus 300 because I didn't have space for 400.

From what I've seen, this lands just above the cheapest true entry-level deals. After using the Ender 3 V3 SE, the AD5M is the minimum I'd recommend for most beginners—it's a noticeable step up in ease of use.

Below is a quick snapshot of past sale prices. Obviously, there are no guarantees these exact deals will come back, but many of them tend to repeat. At the very least, this gives a rough idea of what features you can expect at different price points if you're willing to wait.

Also worth noting: for Bambu Labs printers, I'm effectively treating the brand as a "feature." They've consistently been more reliable and beginner-friendly, which is worth a bit of a premium.

~$90 (bare-bones entry level)
Ender 3 V3 SE — basic auto-leveling, no networking, bed slinger, 220×220mm

~$145 (entry level, better experience)
FlashForge AD5M — improved auto-leveling, CoreXY

~$200 (big jump in features/options)
Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo — bed slinger, multicolor (ACE) included, 250×250mm
Creality K1C — enclosed CoreXY, 220×220mm
Bambu Labs A1 Mini — Bambu experience, bed slinger, 180×180mm

~$240
Anycubic Kobra S1 — enclosed CoreXY, 250×250mm

~$280
Bambu Labs A1 — Bambu experience, bed slinger, 256×256mm

~$320
Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo — enclosed CoreXY + multicolor (ACE), 250×250mm

~$380
Bambu Labs A1 Combo — multicolor (AMS), Bambu experience, 256×256mm

Entry Level Printers:
If you're just trying to get started as cheaply as possible, the ~$90 range exists—but it comes with tradeoffs. Around $140–$200 is where printers start to feel much more "plug and play." Above that, you're mostly paying for convenience, enclosure, multicolor, or ecosystem advantages.
Once you start climbing towards and beyond $500 this is where you will start seeing things like the P2S, X1C, entry tool changers, entry Prusa printers, etc.

A starter supply that isn't much more than what's required to print the demo prints. I would recommend getting at least 1 spool of PLA when you get the printer. That will give you some margin to play with.

IT's bizarre. So I tried adding some small $ items to my shopping cart amounting to about ten bucks. Then added the printer, and THEN it didn't give me the security problem anymore. It was delivered in two days (since I'm in san diego and this ships from 100 miles away), haven't hooked it up yet. I bought an ANET A8 back in 2017 and thought that it was time for a newer printer.
Thanks for the tip! After 3 cancelled orders with different payment methods, adding a couple other items to my cart seems to have worked and let me get all of the way through the checkout process.

This is really tempting as an upgrade to my Monoprice Select Mini... but I may hold out for a Bambu Lab sale at this point.

I ordered and got the printer a couple days back. As a noob to 3D printing, I don't think you can go wrong at this price. Like many, when checking out 3D printers, I was drawn to Bambu Lab but I hate how much waste their current multi color printers generate, plus to get a printer with an enclosure and CoreXY you need to spend 550 for the P1S. MY very limited view is the industry is moving toward multi-toolhead system (checkout the Snapmaker U1 and Flashforge Creator 5) but given how new these machines are, I'm going to wait and learn 3D printing on the 5M first. Once I decide this is a long term hobby, then I can always upgrade to a better printer with this being the primary single color printer backup.
Ty sir!
