These dual 2 inch office chair casters are best for adding smoother rolling and easier direction changes than the stock plastic wheels, especially on carpet and tile. They also spread weight better than single rollerblade style wheels, which can help reduce floor dents and chair base stress. On hardwood and LVP, they still benefit from a mat, and the 2 inch size may feel too low for some chairs or carpets. The metal housing and swivel feel are also described as a bit rough, so fit and floor type matter.

I have had these (Dual Wheel) for about a month now after the last time they showed up on SD and they are really much better than a single "roller blade" type wheel. Easier to roll around on tile floor. Thanks OP!

Many office chairs come with 5 wheels. Does yours not?
Some only come with 4 but it's not quite as common.

Can confirm the warnings about the single roller blade wheels. Had a set on an old office chair on hardwood and it worked great. Moved into a new house with LVP and first thing I did when I bought a new chair was get a set of the roller blade wheels. Noticed after awhile that the corners of the planks under my desk were cracking and breaking off. Turns out this is not uncommon with those single roller blade wheels.

I learned the hard way not to purchase a chair mat that folds for portability. That seam will invite divots from chair wheels. Hope that helps some of you.

Someone on SD mentioned that having two wheels lets you change direction easier esp on carpet due to more surface area on the wheel.

Umm no...in fact it's somewhat the opposite. I just switched out a set from the 3" to the 2" dual wheels on the chair I'm using. If you find the single wheel rolling around to much dual wheels offer more control AND more resistance when trying to change directions because it has to deal with the dual wheels. The specific example one person mentioned was rolling forward and then trying to roll right for example trying to pick up a dropped phone requires more effort. The wheels do roll much better than the regular ones that come with the chair and depending on desk height a 2" set might be better than a 3" set. Another user mentioned heavier people (and I'm not light) might have better results with the single wheel but I'm not finding much of an issue with the double wheels.

Should have gotten this instead of the roller blade ones. The roller blade ones roll a bit too easy, and the direction change is sharp, rather than smooth with two wheels.

The type of wheels depends on the type of floor you plan to have your chair on. If on a hardwood floor, then do not purchase a smooth surface wheel as it will slide and not roll across the floor. Some floors are smooth and a laminate not 100% hardwood anymore. I have also read that the roller blade type wheels will leave indents into the softer floors and can cause issues between planks. So if you want traditional wheels, one a hard floor, then make sure they specifically say for hard floors, as the have a rubber or some other type material that make contact with the floor and will not slide on the floor. It also makes rolling you chair significantly easier. For carpet, in general, I have seen smooth type wheels. A little taller is normally better then wheels close to the ground. I have not tried roller blade wheels on carpet.
