The USB-A ports are all USB 2.0, which is actually okay, or a good thing if you don't need them for data transfer. In my case, I like having the 2.0 ports, because 8BitDo 2.4Ghz dongles have all kinds of problems with USB 3.0 ports, causing their controllers to spontaneously lose connection and turn off. The solution is to use a USB 2.0 port for the dongle, which this hub has.
Clearly, if you want faster data speeds, you'll want a hub with some variant of USB 3.0 ports, but for my use case (and general office use) I like the large number of available display out ports, and only need USB 2.0 for peripherals and a Yubikey. If I need fast transfer speeds, I'll just use one of the available USB 3.0 Gen 1 or Gen 2 ports on my laptops.
