It holds quite a bit of stuff, but there isn't any organization within the pocket. And it also kind of flops over if you put a lot of stuff in that top pocket if you don't have much in the main storage area.
Otherwise, it's a really great backpack though! Really comfortable and durable. I just wish it had better ways to keep smaller things organized within the pack.
Side note: I had the previous generation Refugio backpack and it was so much better for organization. Lot's more small pockets for sunglasses, cords and other things. I don't get why they decided to get rid of smaller pockets or dividers within pockets.
Funny enough, I was swimming at the river and squirrels ate through the bag. Since Patagonia has a great warranty, I they gave me a gift card to replace the 1st gen Refugio bag even though I'd had it for 5+ years.
