Picked up two Bose Soundlink Flex speakers (original version) about a month ago from QVC for a total of $120, including tax. I've been very happy with them. And I am glad that I bought two speakers, the stereo effect and wider soundstage are what I appreciate the most about the purchase.
For those who might be on the bubble on choosing between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 speakers, here's what I've read about the differences (in order of priority):
The latest version has much less sound delay. The reported lip-synching issues when watching videos in the Gen 1 version is almost unnoticeable in the Gen 2 speakers. (My own experience using the Gen. 1 speakers is that the synch issues are overrated. Even when paired for stereo - which is purportedly when the delays are magnified - I find the delays to be tolerable. Noticeable? Yes. But nonetheless tolerable. Note: That might be because I'm viewing the video playback on a 32" monitor. Perhaps the effects might be more noticeable when viewing it on a 60"+ home theater screen.)
Gen 2 speakers come with a synch button that helps to connect the two speakers. Greatly simplifies the pairing process over Gen 1.
The latest version has added a rudimentary 3-band sound equalization on the Bose app. Some users report the new equalizer to be useful in tweaking the response.
The new version is slightly "brighter" in overall sound.
The original version is slightly louder in overall volume.
Battery life is reportedly longer for the new version because of the newer Bluetooth, but not significantly so.
Connectivity and distance are supposedly improved under the new version's Bluetooth 5.3. However, I haven't found any users who claim they saw any significant improvement in these areas.
Gen 1 will link only with Gen 1 speakers. Ditto for Gen 2 speakers. You cannot interconnect the two versions.
Both versions have built-in microphones for taking phone calls.
I found a small camera bag that is suitable for carrying a pair of SoundLink Flex speakers. $21.99 at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SG271TT
Note: I tried to load the pictures showing just how well the two speakers fit into this bag, but I can't seem to get SD to load any of them. You'll just have to take my word on it that a pair of Soundlink Flex speakers comfortably fit into this bag with ample room to spare for a power bank and USB-C cables.
Note2: I prepared a YT video demonstrating how well the Besnfoto Camera Bag works as a carrying bag for the Flex speakers. https://youtu.be/nx3VI2W2JKo

It's said Gen one has more bass than the 2nd.. If I was getting one, 1st Gen for me. As long as the bass portion isn't muddy

To me, it is a very clean-sounding speaker. I'm not a bass-head, so the Gen 1 speaker delivers a great bang-for-the-buck performance. Not bass-heavy and not overly-crisp. Like Goldilocks, it's just right (for me)!
