I have a bigger tree, not a bonsai version. It requires indirect sunlight, but the tree grows/faces where ever the indirect light source is. I water 100-200 ml every two weeks, depending on how dry the soil is.

I'm not an expert and only have my experience with snagging one of these from Costa Farms a couple years ago, I think. It doesn't need direct sunlight and I've been trying to kill it all this time and it won't die. Supposed to be almost impossible to kill. Sometimes it's a month or two with watering it. Honestly, I never really was clear on how much to water it. They would always just say feel the soil and water when its dry. Well, I'm not very good at doing that. Smilie
I have all kinds of fruit trees and have a garden every year and that all works great for me. I've managed to kill 2 of these things somehow. My track record with indoor plants isn't nearly as good.

according to my Filipino mother, it's bad luck if I buy this for myself. It has to be gifted.

I'm sorry to hear that. I actually heard one of the ways to kill it, perhaps the leading way, is over watering which causes the roots to rot. I guess you have to unpot it and cut the rotting dead roots away and start over.

I had this money tree for probably 2 years now and it did well with indirect light. But recently I put a grow light on top of it and it's booming. It grew several inches in 2 weeks with the light. So I suggest experimenting with direct light
