Thanks. Ordered one. 1TB SSD + "Ultra 5" series lunar lake is a steal at this price.
Acer certified refurb laptops marketed as "pristine, like-new condition" are practically new, based on my past experience.

They usually use a different language like "very good" or "slight wear and tear" for laptops that are in worse refurb condition. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/277798090257

Just a note the 288v was 20$ more the other day, they raised the price for the coupon. Still a great price, I bought it at the 650. Just a shady practice.

the 288v also has a 100% srgb 400 nit screen.

for the price with 2 yr warranty looks best deal available. Most scary reviews are for screen, that's where your 2 year warranty comes in.

I ordered this in Feb. It is indeed "like new condition". The battery health is in good condition. Before the purchase, I emailed Acer a few times to inquire about the battery health. It turned out the battery is good and I don't have to replace it at all.

I would say this is the best laptop deal for this price range in this current environment with high RAM price and high hard drive prices.
I found some excellent laptop deals recently and I placed those orders. Some of the orders were cancelled by the sellers, even after the item was shipped. That is why I know the PC parts are getting expensive. This never happened before.

All of my old laptops have 32G RAM when RAM was cheap. But right now, I am willing to pay $400 to $500 for a 16G RAM laptop.

(From my shopping experience with Dell refurbished, the battery had to be replaced. That is why I assume the battery is bad on refurbished laptop).

Does the "AI" in the title just mean the processor has some neural processing units to help the OS with mundane tasks and whatever AI slop Microsoft has tacked onto Windows, or would this actually be good for running/developing other AI applications?

Yes just more for Copilot slop. But. if the local LLMs are built to utilize CPUs more, then it could be better. But for now.... just for copilot.

FWIW, I run Docker Engine and Podman on an Ultra 7.
