I have the Gen 3 Sub and can't recommend it enough. Get the 3 sub over the mini for sure. It's the same price right now. I have it paired with the Arc Ultra and the Era 100s as surrounds.
The Arc Ultra is better overall vs the Arc especially with dialogue but IMO, it's not worth the $400+ premium over the Arc soundbar at just $399
Sonos refurb deals here center on building a compact home theater with the Arc, Sub Gen 3, and Era 100s, with the strongest praise going to the soundstage, bass, and surround effect. The Arc and Sub combo is described as a big upgrade for living rooms and small rooms alike, and the Era 100s work well as surrounds or as a stereo pair. Refurb units repeatedly arrive looking new, often in sealed packaging, and carry the same one year warranty as new products. The main caution is that room size and acoustics matter, and the Sub Mini or Beam 2 can make more sense in smaller spaces.
Home theater buyers building a compact surround setup, because Arc, Sub 3, and Era 100s deliver convincing surround sound in smaller rooms.
Bedroom or small-room listeners who want a soundbar that stays balanced at close range, because Beam 2 sounds clearer than Beam 1 and works well in tiny spaces.
They often arrive looking brand new, sometimes even in sealed retail packaging with no visible wear. Several buyers reported refurbished Arc, Sub, and Era 100 units arriving packaged like new, with only minor signs of prior return use in rare cases.
Yes for most rooms: the Sub Gen 3 is only $10 more at $409 versus the refurb Sub Mini at $399, and it delivers noticeably more bass headroom. The Mini is still a good fit for smaller or medium rooms, but the Gen 3 is the better pick for living rooms and home theater.
Yes. The Arc plus Sub Gen 3 works with two Era 100s as rear surrounds, and that setup is described as sounding fully surround and very strong for music and movies. Officially Sonos supports two speakers, and Sonosequencer can extend the setup further if needed.
The regular Arc at $399 is widely treated as the better value, especially in non-huge rooms, because the Arc Ultra's dialogue and overall performance gains are not seen as worth the roughly $400+ premium. The Arc Ultra is better overall, but the price jump is hard to justify for many buyers.
Unless you have a big room with really tall ceilings, you're not going to notice the difference. Not in music anyway. A tiny bit in movies - but only if you're really paying attention. The Sub Mini is a poor name for it
Never thought about the poor naming but a very valid point. Performs well above anything called "Mini" is expected to.
I have both and they both perform well. Beam in a bedroom and arc in the living room. I think there are some woot deals for the beam right now also.
Thanks for the advice! I'm new to this topic but would you recommend pairing it with the sub (gen 3)? I was originally just going for improved audio over my LG C5 OLED. Didn't originally plan to spend too much on this

What do you all think of a set up consisting of the sub, arc, and move?been holding off for a Q990 sound system deal but no good ones yet since search started.
you would get the sub, arc, and 2 eras for surround. not the move
Thoughts on getting sub 3, 2x 100s, and the Arc for $1162 on this deal: OR wait til the Adorama deal comes back that is the Arc Ultra, 2x 100s, and the Sub 4 for $1650ish or so.
Right now have a pretty entry level samsung soundbar with 2 very poor/weak surround speakers

Is this the best budget set up to get here? The sub 3, 2 100s, and the arc? I've been wanting these speakers for a long time.

Yes. Sonos certified refurbished items come with the same one-year warranty as a brand new product, which makes the refurb pricing easier to justify.
