I have the Gen 3 Sub and can't recommend it enough. Get the 3 sub over the mini for sure. It's the same price right now. I have it paired with the Arc Ultra and the Era 100s as surrounds.
The Arc Ultra is better overall vs the Arc especially with dialogue but IMO, it's not worth the $400+ premium over the Arc soundbar at just $399
Sonos refurb deals here center on building a compact home theater with the Arc, Sub Gen 3, and Era 100s, with the strongest praise going to the soundstage, bass, and surround effect. The Arc and Sub combo is described as a big upgrade for living rooms and small rooms alike, and the Era 100s work well as surrounds or as a stereo pair. Refurb units repeatedly arrive looking new, often in sealed packaging, and carry the same one year warranty as new products. The main caution is that room size and acoustics matter, and the Sub Mini or Beam 2 can make more sense in smaller spaces.
Home theater buyers building a compact surround setup, because Arc, Sub 3, and Era 100s deliver convincing surround sound in smaller rooms.
Bedroom or small-room listeners who want a soundbar that stays balanced at close range, because Beam 2 sounds clearer than Beam 1 and works well in tiny spaces.
They often arrive looking brand new, sometimes even in sealed retail packaging with no visible wear. Several buyers reported refurbished Arc, Sub, and Era 100 units arriving packaged like new, with only minor signs of prior return use in rare cases.
Yes for most rooms: the Sub Gen 3 is only $10 more at $409 versus the refurb Sub Mini at $399, and it delivers noticeably more bass headroom. The Mini is still a good fit for smaller or medium rooms, but the Gen 3 is the better pick for living rooms and home theater.
Yes. The Arc plus Sub Gen 3 works with two Era 100s as rear surrounds, and that setup is described as sounding fully surround and very strong for music and movies. Officially Sonos supports two speakers, and Sonosequencer can extend the setup further if needed.
The regular Arc at $399 is widely treated as the better value, especially in non-huge rooms, because the Arc Ultra's dialogue and overall performance gains are not seen as worth the roughly $400+ premium. The Arc Ultra is better overall, but the price jump is hard to justify for many buyers.
Is Arc for $400 a good price? Thinking of buying it for a big open space for downstairs living room.
Refurb Arc SL has been on sale for less before - https://slickdeals.net/f/19216408-sonos-arc-sl-certified-refurbished-woot-299 for example, and I bought mine for $320 from Woot last year from a similar sale. However if you value the features the regular Arc has over SL and the 1 year warranty directly from Sonos, this is a great deal.
I will say however if you plan to put this in a big open space, I highly recommend grabbing the Sub 3 as well. My setup is in a 14x16 attic with vaulted ceilings, and the Arc SL was greatly improved by adding a Sub Mini, and moderately improved by adding 2 One SLs for rear surrounds.

Thanks, I will wait for SL since I don't care about extra features. In fact, I disabled all touch functions on all my sonos speakers in bedrooms because I got annoyed at activating them while dusting. Already have Gen 3 sub coming, just need Arc SL. Although I wonder, with all this record inflation and prices of electronics in general going up if we will ever see Arc SL that low again.
Sonos Arc is back in stock at $400. Ended up ordering one, who knows if Arc SL will ever be back at $300 from other sites and won't immediately sell out.

IMO, the Arc SL at $379 directly from Sonos is the better buy regardless. I'd rather pay the extra $80 knowing the company has inspected it throughly before shipping it out and you'll also get the same 1-year warranty just as you would for their new products.

Sonos refurbished is top notch. A few years ago I bought 2 refurbished Era 100 speakers from their eBay store and they showed up packaged and looking like they were brand new.
Paid $299 for the sub mini refurb last October and it's more than sufficient for my living room music listening paired with ones. Have an SVS for my home theater and would probably get the Gen 3 deal here if I were to use for watching movies.

If anyone has setup suggestions with someone new to Sonos and using eARC versus optical please message me. Have a Samsung OLED. First time with all these Atmos terms etc

You want to use eARC, optical I believe is outdated and has greater latency. Once you hook it up to eARC, go into sound settings and enable pass through. That way you get sound playing as soon as possible. Important for games and when watching movies/shows, otherwise latency will be big enough for you to notice that speech doesn't sync with lips.
Just received my order and set it up right away. When I have sub level at 0 there is a lot of distortion from the sub. I have to turn it down to -8 or -10 for it to not to hear any noise from the sub. Is this normal? It sounds like one of the subs from the side is delaminated and smacking against itself. Tried two different movies.

Yes. Sonos certified refurbished items come with the same one-year warranty as a brand new product, which makes the refurb pricing easier to justify.
